Sunday night our host mother asked us if we were interested in "a wonderful night on a rooftop terrace." My roommates and I have already learned that if our host mother offers to take us somewhere be prepared for it to be amazing. So naturally we said yes. We ended up at the Grand Hotel Cavour at went straight to the top to their Bar Terrazza Michelangelo, or their terrace bar. Let me tell you, if you want a 360 degree breathtaking view of Florence while sipping on a cocktail, this it the place to be. The views are incredible from the terrace, with views of everything from the Duomo to the Palazzo Vecchio to the Great Synagogue. We went at opening which was around 6:30 when the sun is at that golden hour making everything that much more spectacular. I definitely want to go back when the bar and all the sights are all lit up.
Tip: make sure to bring your passport if you want to go. Hotels here in Florence check passports as a form of security.
